AE Documentary Film Project > AE Police Training Project

Aikido training has long been recommended for use by law enforcement officers. Its benefits include empowering officers to remain calm and clearheaded in situations of high risk; enhancing abilities to solve security problems effectively and without undue negative reactions; and promoting respect for offending parties while neutralizing their capacity to do harm.

This project has three phases.

  1. To bring together for a two-day workshop a number of carefully selected aikidoka experienced in working in training programs for police officers and other security personnel, for the purpose of exchanging ideas and planning to develop materials for enhancing such work.
  2. To develop a plan for making contact with interested parties in police training programs.
  3. To then organize outreach efforts to promote the dissemination of these materials and hands-on instruction.

This project has temporarily been placed on the back burner.
